Local musician and entrepreneur Shawn Day has launched a new record company based out of Sheridan called Big Horn Records.
According to a release from Impact 307, Day, after being nominated to the Wyoming Arts Alliance board in 2022, felt called to represent and develop Wyoming based artists by creating a local record label called Big Horn Records (BHR).
With help from David Adcock at Red Light Management in Nashville, who handles acts such as Chris Stapleton, Dave Matthews Band, and Parker McCollum, BHR was able to sign local rising Western country act, Tris Munsick and the Innocents.
After spending time in London and Los Angeles, Day moved back home to Sheridan with a vision to start Big Horn Records.
His experience as both a solo artist and band member provides a unique advantage to this emerging business with the aim to bring national exposure to “Wyoming grown” artists.
To assist in signing the next artist to Big Horn Records, Day has taken advantage of a special Wyoming program for entrepreneurs and is launching a crowdfunding campaign on The Local Crowd crowdfunding platform, Northeast Wyoming (NEW Crowd), hosted by Energy Capital Economic Development (ECED).
The Wyoming Community Navigator Program (CNP) enabled Day to receive a package of extra benefits for his crowdfunding campaign valued at $1,800 that includes coaching, a business assessment, marketing support and matching funds.
Day said, “This has been a great experience that has helped me work on my business plan and connect to other programs and opportunities around the state.”
The campaign launched July 13.
