Tyson Group and UW College of Business Partner for Sales Training Boot Camp

Published September 08, 2023

In an effort to bridge the gap between business acumen and market demand, Tyson Group is collaborating with the University of Wyoming’s College of Business and Center for Professional Selling for a two-day Selling Skills Boot Camp Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 19-20.

The intensive training for sales members from Wyoming businesses will take place in Room 123 of the UW College of Business Building from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. The cost is $350 per person, and lunch is provided.

The initiative is supported by the Wyoming Business Council and UW’s IMPACT 307 offices and has seen significant investment from the College of Business and Center for Professional Selling.

“We are excited to host the inaugural Selling Skills Boot Camp in partnership with Tyson Group,” says Mike Burns, director of UW’s Center for Professional Selling. “Whether you are brand new to sales or an experienced veteran, this training will offer relevant learning opportunities for everyone. Don’t miss this great opportunity to enhance your selling skills while paving the way for future career success.”

“The Selling Skills Boot Camp is a golden opportunity for Wyoming companies,” says Kaley Holyfield, the Wyoming Business Council’s business retention and expansion manager. “Whether starting out or working on developing a high-performing sales team, a robust sales foundation is crucial for growth. Stay an extra day to tap into the vast talent from the College of Business.”

The boot camp promises a transformative experience for attendees and will focus on: building business development skills; reducing sales cycle time; attracting new business more efficiently; and understanding the elements of high-performing sales teams. Companies present at the boot camp also will gain exclusive access to the College of Business Career Fair Thursday, Sept. 21.

“The Center for Professional Selling is upping the game with this Selling Skills Boot Camp,” says Derrek Jerred, senior director of IMPACT 307. “Sales training is essential across any industry and has application for any person looking to strengthen their skillset. Anyone who has a customer-facing or business-development job description ought to be looking for any opportunity to take advantage of this training.”

The College of Business, with more than 230 students enrolled in its sales program during the 2022-23 academic year, is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, a recognition held by fewer than 5 percent of business schools globally. Recognized by the Sales Education Foundation and a member of the University Sales Center Alliance, the college’s partnership with Tyson Group — a firm recently named to the prestigious Inc. 5000 list — signals its commitment to ensuring students and businesses in Wyoming are primed for success.
