Brian was raised in Sheridan, Wyoming where he captained the 1990 state championship football team. He attended the Colorado School of Mines while achieving a bachelor’s degree in mining engineering. Brian has lived and worked on four continents. He spent 20 years in the energy industry prior to starting his own company in 2016. He enjoys inventing, hiking, reading, skiing, beekeeping, and finding fun adventures with his wife and daughter.

Simply

Simply started in 2020 with the idea of creating an app that helps keep family and friends close while also helping small businesses easily reach their customers. The simple explanation is a social media app that is used for shopping. Ty Nieters currently works for the Wyoming Army National Guard as a Counter Drug Analyst while also serving in the role as CEO of Simply. Ty is from Cody, WY but currently lives in Cheyenne, WY.   Since working with IMPACT 307 in 2021, Simply has gained connections and guidance not only to other businesses to come on the platform but when Simply is ready to also present in front of investors. 

InsurXcel

InsurXcel was a winner of the Fisher Innovation Launchpad in 2021.  InsurXcel is a business that has developed software to provide insurance companies with current industry trends to better market themselves. Focusing on property and casualty insurance, InsurXcel provides a technology service emphasizing efficiency and cybersecurity. Finley McIlwaine and Kegan McIlwaine, both computer science graduate students from Cheyenne, founded the company, along with UW graduate Eric Edelfelt and Berney Bradley, an experienced insurance entrepreneur.
